Sprinkler System Designs

Proper irrigation design is critical to applying the correct amount of water in a uniform, efficient, and cost effective manner. Before the first shovel penetrates the ground it is essential to know the following:

  •  Location of all sprinkler heads, drip irrigation, pipe, valves, wiring, controller, and point of connection.
  •  The source of water, point of connection, water pressure, and volume.
  •  Selection of the proper equipment. Residential grade, commercial grade or golf course grade.
  •  Proper distribution of water using matched precipitation, uniform distribution, and the application rate.
  • Type of landscape and the location of existing trees, shrubs, planting beds, and turf
  • You must know the location of all new plants to be installed as well as turf and trees.
  • Water requirements of all the different plants.
  • What type of soil? Clay vs. loam vs. sand.
  • Sunny areas vs. shady areas
  • Flat terrain vs. hills and slopes
  • Location and type of driveways, walkways, and patios.
  •  Water window. How much time do we have to irrigate the property?
  •  How much property do we have?
  • Plumbing codes
  • Type of Backflow device required
  • And more!

The Rain Rich team has all of the required licenses and certifications necessary to work in every community and water district on Long Island and in the state of New York. Rain Rich is familiar with all the codes required by the towns, villages, municipalities, and water districts. The Rain Rich team has voluntarily undertaken the task of becoming certified in design by the National Irrigation Association and the Environmental Protection Agency water sense program. We are also partners with major manufacturers of the best irrigation equipment on the market such as Hunter Industries, Rainbird, and Toro. Each manufacturer has specific requirement for the proper installation and care of their equipment and for proper functioning and longevity.

Proper irrigation design serves the purpose of:

  • Conserving water
  • Creating an efficient delivery system
  • Specifying the proper grade irrigation equipment
  • Promoting a healthy landscapeProviding many years of quality service

One should always consider a professional irrigation design in a landscape project regardless of the size or the sophistication of the project. I recommend that the owner, landscape architect, and Rain Rich meet during the initial landscape design to insure a smooth integration of all outdoor work and to allow for straightforward installation.
